Trying to get a word in edgewise here between the cracks in the
pallisades....
I have always thought that the points cost should reflect the value of a
figure (or element).
Thus, if Heavy chariots get a bonus, skirmish ability, they should cost a
few points more.
Old style wedging cavalry who are not lancers can now fight in 1-1/2 ranks.
Thus Skythian horse archers can fight in 1-1/2 ranks, but their Cimmerian
cousins cannot. They cost the same.
Lombard HC .....well, you know the drill.
Should troops who get a special "list rule" bonus cost a few points more?
And what about the "cranky general" list rule? Should list rules that
penalize a troop type have them cost less? Such as Sumerian and Mycenaean
pikemen.
I know you do not want to re-write rules, etc., just want to know why you do
not charge more for these "special abilities."
Of course, this can open that can of worms about weapons effectiveness also.
We all know that some heretical WRG derivatives (vrtually everything written
in the 80's) charge extra for Really Good Weapons. Heck, even WRG Gush
Renaissance did also. Just trying to distract the HO's from their
supplements and lists. :)
