I was wandering down the aisles of the Dealer area at Cold Wars (think of a
large cathedral, filled with dealers of miniature historical figures, for
those unfortunates who cannot attend HMGS East cons. tee hee) when I spotted
those familiar dark craft cardboard boxes set out for browsers. "What is
this?" I thought. "Why this looks like the old Ral Partha stand of old,
selling foot figures for $.50!" And so it was.
It seems that the dust has finally settled on the state of the Ral Partha
molds, since they were acquired by WizKids or whatever.
The new company is Iron Wind Metals LLC, owned and operated by former Ral
Partha employees and managers, website for vintage minis is:
www.thelaziestdragon.com
general inquiries:
mkm@...
The good news is that if you go to the cons where Iron Wind has a presence,
you can rummage through the bins to get foot for $.50, horses for $1.00,
various weapon bits for $.50, chariot kits for $5.00, etc.
The bad news is that to order on line, foot cost $2.00, and so on. This is
in line with other figures in the catalog. They have apparently acquired ALL
of the Ral Partha metal molds, except those historicals sculpted by Tom
Meier, which were the great colonial range. These are available from
Thunderbolt Mountain.
I remember scrounging RP fantasy ranges in the past for Pirates, Three
Musketeers, Mad Scientists, etc, as well as Raptors, Sabretooth Tigers; they
are all there, in a great new big glossy catalog. Ignore all old numbers!!!!!
Other good news is that the Ral Partha paints will be back soon.
Any questions, ask them, not me!
Your humble correspondent,
John the OFM
