That ability is for Polybians with Velites. (and a very cool ability it is,
I must say - you may be seeing more of it in tourneys at some point...).
But its was not a feature of later Roman armies.

Jon,

I play with / against Marian Legionaries in Fast Warrior at times
and was going to see what I could do with them in 1600 pt.

Fast Warrior gives the ability to charge HI through LI without
disorder as well as through other HI Legionaries. I was shocked,
shocked I say, to see that the option to charge through LI without
disorder was deleted in Imperial.

The Roman army of the period excelled in their drill and maneuver
and I thought that this list rule with LI was one of the few saving
graces for a foot army with almost no shock cav or any close/loose
reg shooters in a game that so favors shooting and shock cav.

Also, I know that you were at one time considering making Roman HI
move as you did with the Swiss. I think you missed it when you did
not do it. The Roman formations moved much faster than Greek pike.
Also, the Romans beat the Greeks not on open ground, but when they
had the chance to flank the Greeks in rough areas, ground the Greek
pike could not operate effectively from. This flanking was done by
standard Leg, not loose order Axila.

O'well, I had years of dust on my early Romans from 6th before I
first rebased for Warrior, then rebased to Warhammer, then rebased
back to Warrior. Looks like I will need to be making movement trays
for them again.

Ed
