Wes, all,

I had a slow moment at work, so I thought I'd pound out a Russ list
for giggles. First the Pechnegs at 1200 points cost way too much, so
goodbye cute wagonlager. This unless you ran all the Pechneg LC in a
single unit of 12 3 deep. Great for open planes against LMI, but
certainly a target for many many things. The Lager is nice deployed
forward, but the cost of it all would make this a Pechneg army with
Russ ally...

The Vikings are too much for too little, and frankly aside from
elephants I can't see their uses. Yes I know, I know....blasphamy.
so be it. If I wanted that many vikings running around, I'd run
Viking list and get even more bows and bearzerks.

I'm not sure this list is one I'd run, but it is a starting point for
discussion on this list. See what you think.

Here is my 10 minute Russ list:

CNC as Druzina with 3E 2HCW/sh, JLS/sh 205 (what a waste of points)
4x 6E IrgC HI/MI/MI LTS/JLS/sh, B 121 each
8E IrgC LI JLS/sh 73
Bulgar ally as HC +2E IrgB L/B/sh 130
2E IrgB/C HC L/B/sh 82 each
2x6E IrgC/D LC J/B/sh 103 each

10 units at 1180 points

I will have to rely upon the mounted all working a single flank,
while the LI slow down the enemy or attack the enemy skirmishers.
The Russ spear will have to make contact and hold out so that the
Bulgars can toss in. However, never trust a Bulgar ;)

This army at 1200 points is very vulnerable, but I put archers in the
spear units to slow the attrition rate on the few shock units. I
might actually run this army completely different by running it as
all Russ spearmen with bow rank. Aside from skirmishers and Druzina,
I would be able to field 8 spear units as described above. With
enough terrain it might work.

As written, unfortunealty, I think this army will lead with the CNC.
could drop the CNC bodyguard down to 1 element, and create another 2E
element out of the other required Druzina. HOwever, this would drop
the LI back to 6E, and the net effect on battle would probably be
zero! :)

Just hide in terrain...

Are there enough points left over to upgrade the
Bulgarian HC to all B morale? I would assume so (that
would be like 3 points an element), but is that the
best they can be now?
