Thanks for taking the time to get to this one Jon, I will try to
point out the actual rules questions.

In the situation in the diagram...

Q1. The EHK all charge. If the LI rout (so there can be no
breakthru? - sorry that is 2 questions here) is it somehow possible
under any clause of the rules for the EHK to convert into the HK?

Q2. If the charge above happens and LI (somehow) do _not_ rout, and
the EHK nreakthru, this is measured from the original position? So
the EHK would have to roll long to convert into the HK? (actually 2
questions again)

Q3. Maybe covered by Q1 above - if the LI rout as in Q1 above, and
roll normal, they wind up split by the HK unit. The pursuit by the
HK has to stop when it hits the LI leaving it interpenetrated until
resolved next bound (when the HK can charge)? - I think I know this
one but want to be sure

I can't tell. Assuming you mean for the LI to stand, the diagram says '<120p'
for the distance from the rear of the LI to the HK and how much less matters.

<<Q2. If the charge above happens and LI (somehow) do _not_ rout, and

Yes, and I think so.

It seems so, yes.

so, for sake of a number, say split 96p and 120p and call it exactly
108p from the rear of the LI (so 172p from the front rank) to the
front of the HK behind.

I admit I am at a total loss as to why here the exact distance makes
any difference if >160p from front. So please take the pain to
enlighten me - and sorry for asking since I know you are swamped by
rules questions and rulebook authoring at the moment.

If the LI stands and the EHK breaks them, they will rout 80 or 120p to the
rear. If it is 120p and the HK are less than that to the rear, at least one
rank of LI will get through. If the HK are to be converted into by the EHK,
BOTH LI ranks would have to reach the HK and interpenetrate. It matters
greatly...

If 108p (???) and the LI routs 120p, then they get 12p into the HK. I don't
want to do the math, but I think that means only one rank gets through and
the EHK are still in contact with the LI and do not convert into the HK.

Rules questions with examples need exact measurements. If you say simply
>160p or <120p or some such there is usually no way to answer, esp. if
interpenetration and/or variable moves are involved.

the LI have a depth in two ranks (for 15mm) of 40mm or ~64p
so to be >160p from the front they also have to be >96p from the rear

so, for sake of a number, say split 96p and 120p and call it exactly
108p from the rear of the LI (so 172p from the front rank) to the
front of the HK behind.

Thanks, Jon.
