Any portion.

Any portion of the front edge.

I am working on a clarification to 'in terrain' for all purposes.

Second paragraph, second sentence:

"Unless the body moves entirely along a defined path, throw one D6
on entering the area or subsequently starting a segment within it."

For a body in column, does this require the entire front edge to be
within the Very Rough Area, or does any portion trigger this effect
(left or right wheel per die roll)?

For a light infantry body, more than one element wide, does any
portion of one end element entering the VRA trigger the effect?

Apples and oranges. Column is a subset of block formation and therefore a
formation itself. Ambush is a deployment option sometimes available when
using 14.0 to play a game.

A mounted body could be in block and not in column while in ambush, but it
would have to get into column before it could move into or through woods.
