It was just the thing that Kelly said about reissuing the rules.
Pointless, really. They're fine the way they are.

I love this game, and I think the rules are top shelf, but your statement
above is a bit unfair, and untrue. I think we can see there are a few
places where improvements could have been made. I am not complaining mind
you, just a little rankled at the apparant calousness of you comment (i.e.
pointless).

Sorry, Don, no intent to be callous. Just practical.

Consider it as a business matter. Reprinting the Rules would be very
costly, and could not be justified unless one were confident that a large
proportion of those who already have a copy of the rules would buy the new
one. While there may have been useful clarifications from Jon over the
months since the original publication, there is nothing like a "2nd
Edition" and, in my view, far too little to support a pitch (to those who
already have a copy) that they should buy another set. I would expect that
anyone who bought a "2nd Edition" would be justified in expecting to find
significant changes, and would be correspondingly disappointed with nothing
more than the clarifications to date. If anything, I think we could then
(perhaps justly) be criticised for "churning" the rules just to increase
sales. Ergo, there is no "point" to the exercise.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe a lot of the guys on this list would buy another
set. There are reasons why we would like to reprint that have nothing to
do with the rules themselves. How much appetite is out there for a
reprint? How much would you be willing to pay for upgraded materials?

I am in agreement. To be fair to Bill, just read that statement without the
word 'pointless.'

** Bill, you are far too classy of a gentleman for me to take you as being
callous to me! I took your comment as rather witty and not mean spirited Smile!

Consider it as a business matter. Reprinting the Rules would be very
costly, and could not be justified unless one were confident that a large
proportion of those who already have a copy of the rules would buy the new
one. While there may have been useful clarifications from Jon over the

more than the clarifications to date. If anything, I think we could then
(perhaps justly) be criticised for "churning" the rules just to increase
sales. Ergo, there is no "point" to the exercise.

** Actually Bill, I'll bet that Jon, being the squared away soldier that he is,
has a working copy that he uses with cleaned up phrases. I merely propose that
cleaned up versions be copied from the word document and sent via email to all
of us who have already purchased this fine rule set. This would merely require a
copy and paste and send procedure. No dollars wasted and the sets don't fall
into the hands of folks who didn't originally pay for the Warrior Rules. And I
further would propose that if FHE felt that this is indeed something that
Warrior adherents need to pay for, then I for one would be willing to reimburse
Jon "The Emperor of Han" with a reasonable $$$ amount.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe a lot of the guys on this list would buy another
set. There are reasons why we would like to reprint that have nothing to
do with the rules themselves. How much appetite is out there for a
reprint? How much would you be willing to pay for upgraded materials?

** See above observation. . .

Yea, I think its the impersonalness of email. Had we been face to face, I
am sure I would have seen your intent. Sorry for popping a reply without
thinking it through.

May I make a humble suggestion? Take it for what it is worth - I am
speaking from personal experience and have not done the required
research into printing costs, etc. but here is what I would propose:

For those of us who work with Building Codes and Tech manuals (and
rulesets!) know that no matter how well written a document is, there
will always be a need for clarifications, inserted additions, etc. When
and if a Warrior 2nd Edition hits the shelf, why not issue it in a three
ring binder with three hole punched sheets? If there are those who wish
to have the clarifications included in the main document then the
addended sheets are printed once a year or so on colored sheets with the
addendum date at the bottom. You simply take out the sheet that is to
be replaced and insert the new one.

The three ring binder also protects the document from the wear and tear
of use, transport, etc. Those of us with experience with this method
know that there would be a need to buy a box of paper a**holes to stick
on the few pages that pull through the binder rings, but is a great way
to keep your rules in good shape. The Army Lists could also be issued
on 3 hole punched paper and inserted at the end. The binders also have
a couple of pockets that player sheets, etc could be kept in. I believe
there was an ill fated ancients ruleset released several years ago that
used this system and I have to admit that this was the best thing about
them (sorry, no offense intended to anybody who knows which ones I am
talking about).

I know that if it costs a few $$ more, it certainly would not stop me
from buying them.

Just a thought.

If we do a cleaned up version, it will have color, much better writing,
more/clearer examples and be about $39. But that is not in our immediate
future unless the warehouse empties or I win the lottery...lol

This was the AH approach to ASL. Worked awesome, but the rules were $50.

Don, see my reply to Bill. Rewrites could be sent out using edit, copy,
Paste, and send to registered people who own rule sets. No cost involved unless
the FHE guys wanted to charge.

The first thing I did with my copy was to three hole punch it, put it in
a binder, and tab it.
I would pay for replacement pages for the updates.
