No. In range of every missile weapon in the body.

Can they skirmish if only the slings and not the javelins are in, or
potentially in, range? Rules say not in a body mixed with those who
can not, but since only the range and not troop type or armament is
the factor here does that apply?

If it does then I think it might be better to run these two units as
one entire unit with slings and one with only JLS.
