I remember the old San Antonio Cup. I attended a
couple of the tournaments down at the San Antonio USO.
I dropped out of the old SW Society of Ancients
because they were using the old WRG rules by Phil
Barker, before DBM and DBA, and some of the members
liked to exploit the vague wording of many of the
rules to pull out a win. So, I'm very glad to see
that Four Horsemen is interpreting and re-wording any
vague rules.
I remember one of these guys (I feel it's safe to talk
because it has been 21 years)would claim that, since
infantry halted when charged by cavalry, my infantry
would stand and not even turn to face when charged in
the flank or rear, even if they were not engaged. I
knew that there was a rule disputing this somewhere,
but he would not allow time to find it in the rule
book.
At one of the tournaments, one guy measured how far
cavalry could charge in one half round (or bound) and
claimed that Irregular troups would have to take a
flank charge without responding for the entire turn
because the cavalry hit before they completed a turn.
Then there was a guy who would interpret the rules two
ways in a single game, depending on which
interpretation favored him at the time, and answered
any protest with "In the absence of a referee, all
rules disputes are settled by a die roll" (which was a
house rule at the time). That way, he had a 50-50
chance of winning a dispute no matter how pathetic his
argument was.
Another guy used a home brewed Indo-Bactrian army list
that had every useful troop type imaginable, but no
inferior types. Tough to beat Irr B infantry with
2HCW, jls, sh plus Indian Elephants plus HC with
Lance. I think he had camels, too.
I sincerely hope that none of the Warrior players
resort to these unsportsmanlike tactics. If any of
the old crowd is around, I hope they've matured a bit.

Those old USO tournaments were in 6th edition. They tore that down
about a dozen years ago, and all those old 6th guys are buried in Big
Dave's back yard. ;-)
