Anyone know a good place to find shield artwork for Byzantines -
both the kite or almond design of the cavalry and also the large
oval shields for the foot?
Some of these can look really great - Scott McD's 25mm
Byz/Hungarians/whatever that he loaned me for Byz cav recently come
to mind. Very nice paint job on those shields and amazingly every
single one a unique and interesting design. On the other hand the
stuff in Ian Heath's WRG armies book is pretty bland like a subset
of the Norman shield designs from the Bayeux tapestry which one can
find in any of a half a gazillion water slide decal transfers. And
I'd like Byz that look more distincively Eastern Med than my Normans.
If I can find the artwork I can scan and edit, or I can also work
with electronic images.
