I've discovered that a number of times it would be useful to start under
WAIT orders and then switch to ATTACK and would like to use a Signal for
this, but the classical Greeks didn't use standards. Based on re-enactment
experience it is likely a horn would work, but 4.53 specifies "a single
improvisied visual signal".

For those of us without banners, what options do we have as to signals?
Could the General+Bodyguard advancing be used as a signal? Could their
movement beyond a certain point count?

Yes.

 Could their

Yes.

I will make this more clear as well in the new book.
