Following the success of the Gaugamela Battle Day earlier this year the
SoA committee have decided that we should do another one.
So the big question is what followed by when.
The basic criteria for the battle are that it must be well known, large
scale and probably one of the decisive battles of the world. As we did
Gaugamela we should probably avoid something too similar, and maybe this
time there should be some terrain.
We hope to run the event on the same format with the introduction and
question sessions again as these proved popular and so the battle chosen
will be affected by the availability of experts to run these sessions - so
volunteers and suggestions are welcome for that.
When is a difficult one, and it is likely to be a compromise as to
clashing the least with other events/shows/etc. Again suggestions are
welcome.
Location is a bit up in the air - but it will be the UK. Although the
previous venue has its plus points (cost being one) it also had some less
good points and so an alternative will be considered. One suggestion so
far is the location being used for the AGM Games day see
http://www.endoftime.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/gamesday/ for details. Clearly
cost is an issue so please bear that in mind.
So get your thinking caps on - all suggestions welcome.
