We are here to help brother small game companies - as long as they are not
 competitors...lol
As we do intend to eventually make electronic versions of our games,
eventually we will be, but for now, your mail is ok this one time.
I would suggest to you that in the future if you want to place an ad in a
discussion forum that you ask for permission first - and not in the same mail as
 the ad.

				| I probably already know some of you guys here if any of you play DBM but if
not then let me introduce myself. My name is Iain McNeil from Reigate
Wargames club, though I also make computer games for a living through
Slitherine Software. You may already have heard of us if you are interested
in historical strategy games. These days publishers are just looking for
mass market games that will sell to the lowest common denominator and that
means games like our find it hard to get the backing they need and we have
to do our own marketing - hence this mail! We have to look for alternative

 Campaign Map

Our latest game Spartan is set in ancient Greece. You take control of one of
over 100 playable nations in this turn-based empire building game.

 Research
 http://www.slitherine.co.uk/spartan/images/research.jpg

You choose which technologies to research, how your cities will develop,
what troops to train and which resources to trade.

 Trade

You also control the diplomatic & military machine of your nation.
Everything from nation names, city positions, troop types, weapons, uniforms
and events have been researched carefully to give a really good feel for
 ancient Greece.

 Diplomacy

The battles are epic affairs with thousands of soldiers fighting it out, but
it remains a strategy game and not an RTS because you don’t directly control
 the battles.

 Deployment

Instead you must deploy your troops and issue orders before the battle
starts, but once it commences you have only very limited controls such as
“Retreat” if things are looking really bad!

Spartan has just been nominated as a finalist in the Game of the Year 2004
competition hosted by the Independent games Festival, which is great news
and gives you an idea of how good a game Spartan is going to be! For more
information about the competition visit http://www.igf.com

For more information about Slitherine, Spartan & our other games set in
ancient Rome and the near east visit our website at

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy the game!
