Ok, first off, NASAMW political discussions are NOT to be had here, this is not
the forum. Everyone has been real good about this and I'd like it to continue.

However, it seems as though there *is no* forum for the membership to discuss
NASAMW issues, which forces folks to talk about it on the DBM list and
occasionally try it here.

I'd be happy to start a list for NASAMW members to talk about stuff (this is an
election year and there is a lot of discussion about making changes and
improving the society that needs to be had). There is already a list for the
executive council members, but not for members at large.
Unless anyone knows of one that I could not find, I'll start one in the next few
days and post the link here.

Jon

There is a list already set up for this. It is called
NorthAmericanDBM and was set up because the DBM list didn't want
political discussions either.

Yes, and I've been a member for some weeks. Hmmm...can't put my
finger on it, but there's something about the name of the group that
gives me a low level heartburn. Can't quite put my digitus
multitudinus on it. Perhaps it will pass. :D

The group description from the NorthAmericanDBM group is:
---
This group was started as a forum for discussing subjects affecting
the North American Society of Ancient and Medieval Wargamers. It
started because the main DBM discussion list is not the appropriate
place for these discussions.

DBx discussions relevant only to people in North America are welcome
here. Warrior discussions are also welcome.

However, people are encouraged to use the original DBM group at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dbmlist/ for DBM and the original
Warrior group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WarriorRules/ for
Warrior.
---
The link is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NorthAmericanDBM/ for any
that are interested.

Without getting into a debate, I'd think a list not moderated by someone running
for President would be a better idea.

Too funny...

I am not sure that is the best answer, given the focus. I'd like this proposed
list to be for NASAMW discussions unlinked to any particular rules set.

No worries, Bob. I am not, and never will. I personally do not feel being in
FHE and also being an elected officer of NASAMW is right for me.

AND, if someone else decides to moderate this instead of me, I am his new best
friend...!

LOL!

Probably the result of politics on the DBM list being so commonplace.

I agree, so why not have our good friend Boyd Bruce moderate it? I've
got no problem with that.

Oops,

Thought Boyd would take over the NADBM list. Instead he started a new
one.

Just as well. But, I changed owner of NADBM list to Scott Dickson and
moderator to Boyd Bruce.

No problemo tho. I was getting tired of all the moderating. ;-p

I was talking about the Larry-moderated NADBM list, which Larry moderates. As
someone else pointed out, it derives from the DBM sphere, and is therefore
doubly inappropriate.
