If the Swiss are getting a 'strong rewrite', I would like to make a
suggestion. The Swiss pike fighting 2-3 ranks deep, as opposed to the
Macedonian four, is questionable as the Swiss keil was much deeper. The
problem then is what to do about the halberdiers?
How about this- Swiss pike formations would be pike, but up to 1/4
'colour guard, at +1 pt per fig.' The colour guard fights as pike if
in the back rank behind pike, but as halberd if in the front rank, and
can interpenetrate. This would seem to represent their function better
than replacing the rear ranks of pike. I doubt tha this would give too
much of a competetive adsvantage, as these are VERY expensive element
frontages for an army with limited flank protection, and the Swiss
should be able to deal with almost anything frontally. - Tom
