				| I understand the historical logistical reason for the two table
sizes so now disturbs me only as untidy and illogical from a game
rather than bizarre. I think it more signficant that there are also
tactical differences based solely on the size of your figures -- a
two elements wide is more than 120p in 15mm while in 25mm it is
either 120p wide using a metric scale or less than 120p wide using
imperial (25.4mm = 25 paces). I'm sure there are more little
 surprises to discover.

Some may delight in these differences as creating fog of war, but I
personally always found scale anomalies as a factor discouraging
 consideration of a rules set.

 Regards,

 Mike

				| I'm certainly in the camp that the 15mm and 25mm US comps feel
 distinct and play differently.

 Jon asked "Why?"

 Well, that's a reasonable question.

If the table size were the same relative to movements for the two
scales, commonly, then *maybe* the differences would largely go away.
I'm not sure, but am also not sure that I can rationalise it fully.
Also, the size of an element in paces is subtly different.

I *like* this - trying to homogenise is silly, I think. Why remove
 options?

Anyway, in 15mm, and off the top of my head:
 * pinning is more effective, because both LC (aso LI) have more space
to use full marches, and the place pinned has further potentially to
 go to reach action
 * hence more light troops, more of a skirmish game. Being regular is
 more important, I think.
 * redeployment also more feasible, if mobile
 * terrain tends to be less impacting. This may be player habit rather
than actual size vs. table size - I haven't checked - but may not be.
 * missile fire changes: projects across a small % of table, but tends
to be more deadly when occurring because of change in likely target
types (more mobile means more mounted means more vulnerable to
missiles). Melee ditto, esecially for foot units. Both require more
work/skill to get into place but have bigger payoff when occurring.

That should provide a start. As I've noted, I like 25mm figures, but
I prefer the 15mm game. Maybe we should play 25mm on 10' x 6' tables?

				| Amen, brother Ewan, Vivre la difference! When I asked Jon
to "consider" this, I immediately kind of regretted it. On the
surface a fine idea and one that I think covers the difference in
scales but on the other hand I think there is a reason why, skill
aside, players gravitate toward the scale with the flavor they
 prefer.

My own flavor, of course, is "cheap"! Looking at 6mm. Joking aside I
would like to see the new rulebook address this better actually.

I want to serve 6mm, 10mm and 30mm as well as we can. Is there anything
 specifically you are concerned about?
