OMM and Silver Eagle are interested in sponsoring a team tournament in the
North East. We are considering 4 player teams from NASAMW Regions 8
(Turnpike), 10/11 (South/Capitol), 12 (Central NY) and 13 (New England),
although some
other geographical breakdown is also acceptable. Each team would bring 4
different 1600 point armies, covering 4 specified periods. The 4 periods would
them be played as a round robin, the resulting points from each period would be
added together for the team title. Individual titles would be awarded in
each period. It would be possible for the different periods to be in different
scales. That is to be determined. The event would most likely be held in
New Jersey (near OMM), or possibly at PointCon. Is the North East up for the
challenge? Let's show those Texas and Kansas boys how to hold a team event.
Contact me if you are interested.

I think this is a great idea, of course.

One note - Larry Essick and I have a joint proposal before the EC to have NASAMW
sponsor both a NASAMW Western Championship and a NASAMW Eastern Championship. I
would ask that OMM and SE consider integrating their idea and the NECT idea. It
might be that merging the two is highly beneficial for all.

The proposal can be found on both NASAMWList and ec_nasamw.

Thanks
Jon

Sure - count me in.

The Kaeser - Markowitz DeathMatch would be the one to watch Smile.

Actually, my bet is that New England can take on any other region
(looking at this year's NICT results, we have finishers 3, 5, 8 and 14
for the top four, unless I'm missing someone, and a bunch of other
goood players). I don't honestly know whether region 12 would have
enough Warrior folk. Tim Brown is the obvious team captain there;
thinking through the membership I recall that Jevon is a NY guy, but
I'm not sure who they'd add.

Maybe I should do a Cheney and move my formal residence to upstate NY
Smile. Hey my wife works there, close enough, right?

Regarding upstate New York:

Dave Stier is in Rochester; he and Jevon have been good friends for years, so
I'm sure they could coordinate a team in their area. Throw in the Toronto guys
as part of that region and you definitely have the makings of a team.

I would love to participate in something like this. I just need to
find three former NICT winners in the Virginia region so I can be
the #4 throw-away score and still get the tee-shirt! Wohoo!

Seriously, though, this is a very fun-sounding idea.

Count me in. I'll gladly form part of any team that takes on the
McNay/Kaeser/Brown axis.

I'm a free-agent regionless mercenary. Even though I'm originally from Jersey,
no self-respecting Manhatonite could be part of the "Turnpike" region. Who came
up with that? Well, since Ed in the coordinator, I'll play if he drums up some
support.

Actually, Dan Wolke is moving to the city, so he can form part of an all NYC
team -- plus he has the advantage of having Kaeser's number:).

I'm in too - look at Markowitz grabbing the up and comer Woyke in his "turnpike"
region. New England has always represented and would again.

Don't forget Turnbull is also in our region (Maine) - even though he's from
"Away" and not a local.

Hmmm...Here I sit in the TOC, 4:30 AM, having worked 22 hrs straight
and still counting ( One weekend a month my ass *wink*), and I'll be
damned if somehow i go away for a bit and then I get linked up with
Ewan. I mean, yeah- he lives just 30 minutes away and is the nearest
guy, but really, would it be fair to everyone? I can't imagine the
two of us with say...oh...damn near anyone else...losing to the New
england guys. Two bad Ambrose is in Florida, although I could talk
him into coming back for such a tournament. Bwaaahaaaa. Pretty
dangerous, I think. Count me in. And anyone else who'll have me. (
Hey You! Want to learn Ancients? Come're!) An AXis ? Wow. Which
country am I? *sigh* Back to work...5 minute break overwith.

Relax, Tim Smile. We're in separate element's of Dave's axis. Can I be
North Korea? On the other hand, now you're linked with Dave S, so I'll
leave it to you to decide who the greater evil is...

...that 30 min hides the NY/New England border. So I'm part of the
enlightened independent Conglomeration of New England states, along with
Kaeser/Turnball/Kovel/Low et al., while you're a heathen Yankee. Or
something; I never did get the hand of the intra-US perjoratives. ;)

Seems clear that we have sufficient interest, Jake. Pick a date with
sufficient leadtime?

Will the idea be to get only the very best team from each region?
Can a region field multiple teams? Can teams cross between technical
regions of membership?

Yo Jake.
John had a good question. Can you have multiple teams from a region? Can you
have a Free Company Team of mercenaries? Maybe a Berkshirite Team? You get the
idea.

Todd K, I would gladly form the practice squad for New England as
long as I got some practice Games in with some of the player to help
improve my game.

Herr Kollmer, A BERKSHIRE team what are you talking about? The person
that was always trying to set up games and get them in just moved and
Ted is abroad most of the time. As for Jon, if/when Jon Cleaves ever
moves back to Maine, Maine would have Jon Cleaves, Robert Turnbull,
me and we could take Jon(steph's husband) into the Maine Group.

Staying within the colonies borders MA/ME

Dennis and I are conferring on the possible dates now. We hope to have an
announcement shortly.

The number of teams will be dependent on the venue. Presently, we have one site
with space for 8 games at a time, limiting the number of teams to 4. If we can
get a bigger venue, we can have more teams. We would like the team members to
be from one geographical area. If that crosses NASAMW regional boundries,
that's fine. So far, the response from VA/MD has been minimal, so it might open
up a team space from elsewhere in New England. If we push the whole thing back
to Point Con (Mar-Apr) we may have room for 6 teams.
