Hi all,
As another newcomer to the rules, I have been following the
conformity/pivoting discussion with great interest (though it took me
a while to understand the whole "v" formation complaint, and I'm
still not sure I understand that).
In light of all the other conversation, I thought that Terry's posted
suggestion was a model of clarity.
His final point, regarding advantage of position when there is a tie,
is one of game philosophy. While he favors the attacker (presumably
forcing a defender to conform out of protective terrain, etc.) I
would think that historically, an attacker who failed to carry a
position should not receive an additional advantage which it did not
earn in combat.
On an unrelated matter, in the FW army list, Wars of the Roses
English (223), it gives billmen "2HCT, Pa". Does this mean Pavise?
(and I won't be a critic and ask where this comes from... ;-)
Also, the notation that the longbowmen get a +1 in HTH as sword and
buckler men - is this an extra list-specific "plus" not found in the
rules or chart?
On a final note, and I apologize if it is in the rules - I have been
looking and not found it - can you have mixed morale troops, ie,
English Reg C HI Billmen with a front rank of dismounted knight Reg B
EHI Billmen in the same unit? If so, how do they test morale, etc.?
Thanks,
Dave Lynch

I have read Terry's posts and have included them in the pile of stuff I will
review in working on a nice tight, SHORT clarification to 6.163/5.
Pa is the Warrior abbreviation for Pavise.
You can have (as long as the list allows) mixed morale troops (detachments and
generals joining units also cause this sometimes).
You get the morale benefit of having the higher morale troops, if one is
applicable, but you test waver on the lowest morale in the unit.
