Received my order of Testudo Teutonic and German knights yesterday.
I know a couple of you wanted a little G-2 on this rather obscure
line of figures, so thought I would oblige.

The order was received 23 days after it was made, and as I
understand, it was sent from Italy later than anticipated. All in
all, certainly acceptable(7.5). The order was complete when received
(10). I ordered 2 each of the Teutonic and German knights.

The figures themselves are closer to the 'standard' 25mm as opposed
to the largish 28mm figures some manufacturers produce. (Even though
Testudo describes these as 28mm.) The sculpting and detailing are
superb (9.0), with animated facial features, perfectly proportioned
horse/rider symmetry, and historically accurate equipment (10).
There was absolutely no flash on any of the models that I have
opened, with only slight mold lines evident(10).

The riders are seperate from the horse, and on many of the Teutonic
figures you can place a lance or sword in the open hand. The flowing
Teutonic cape has to be glued on, which will require a little gap
filling, but the two parts fit perfectly (8.0).

The metal alloy used seems to be a tad bit brittle, with a couple of
the lances broken (which presents no problem since you can place a
sword in the open hand or use a replacement)(7.5).

Some of the figures come with a shield, and this can be replaced with
a shield from an accessory pack of shields that you can order. Some
of these shields have a raised cross, which can facilitate painting.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the figures and am excited about
getting some paint on them. This will be the cavalry element of my
Teutonic Order army for Cold Wars.

I will paint up a stand of these over the next couple of days and
post them to my website, in the Miniature Gallery.

I might add that the sculptor for Testudo figures also did the cover art for
the WARRIOR rule book.
