Warrior Plan
We are going to publish by Fall In (Nov 9-12). Here's the plan and what you
can do to help.
1. Issues
If there are issues that would result in a change to the current design or
intent of the rules you would like us to look at, tell me what they are. I
make absolutely no promises. No issue will get in the rulebook without
complete playtest reports from at least three games.
Issues we are already dealing with that you do not have to ask for:
-gaps
-fighting transport (Hussites, etc.)
-support shooting and shooting arcs
-baggage camps
Issues we are not putting in the basic rulebook, so don't ask (but get ready
for x-rule time).
-stirrups
-LHC
-point value changes (sorry, a PV change now would delay us at least a year
or more, and only a small minority think it is broken none of whom are
horsemen)
Any issue must be supported by playtest reports from at least three games
played after July 29th . These reports can accompany the issue or reach us
by Aug 12th. They do not have to be played or submitted by the person
raising the issue.
2. Things you can do to help -
Volunteer to review 15 July draft by Aug 12th
Volunteer to playtest any issues we decide to consider
Volunteer to do final review of the rules starting 1 Sept. with comments in
by 15 Sept.
Volunteer to make one or more diagrams
Diagrams must use the software (word-powerpoint 97 or 00) and symbology in
the July 15 draft. The name of anyone who submits a diagram we use in the
rule book will be used as the name of a player in the example text.
Anyone who does any of this volunteer work gets their name in the credits -
but most of you are there already, anyway.
3. Key dates
July 30th to Aug 12th - last chance at "issues"
Aug. 12th - "issue" cut-off
Aug. 13th to Sept. 1 - final writing
Sept. 1 to Sept 15th - final review
Sept 15th to Oct 1 - layout
Oct. 1 - to printer
Nov. 9 - Available for purchase
Ok, troops, let's move out.
Jon

Will rules be available for purchase in the UK on November 9th? It is somewhat
amusing to think that a
set of rules in the tradition of the old WRG of Worthing and Birmingham and
London has become a
"foreign" product. British members might be put in mind of those great sports
they invented, rugby and
cricket, which are now Australian games.

I don't know. UK distributorship is currently not a subject for public
discussion.
Hmmm, maybe we should declare Nov 9th independence day.... :)

It will be available through the Silver Eagle Wargming Supplies website at
the same time it goes to distributors here and can be picked up at Fall In.
As soon as one of us knows anything about UK distributorship, we'll put it
out here.

I don't know. UK
distributorship is currently not a subject for public
discussion.
I wouldn't expect a confidential matter like that to be
discussed in public, but there must be some idea of whether it is
likely to be available on November 9th, or whether we ought to expect
it two months or so later, owing to shipping times.
To be honest, if you can handle credit card orders
on the Web or by phone, I'd just market it to the UK over the Web
and get someone reasonably high profile that you trust to handle the
major shows on a sale or return basis, for the first year. You really
need top-notch marketing here, probably via a couple of well-placed
articles in Slingshot. Then rely on word of mouth, with this sale or
return rep at the shows. I think it will take at least a year for the
existence of the Warrior to hit the public consciousness over here.
Not many people on the SoA committee knew about the project at the
end of last year, and they usually are well informed

PS, I don't want a reply to my second para, just my
first.
