I guess the only way I'll have an opportunity to learn Warrior is to
spend the weekend playing... at least it will keep me out of the
dealer hall.

So, what armies might be easiest to push around while hoping my
opponent actually knows the sequence of play? I probably have the
figures to do:

FW 15mm- I have a Thematic Byz army. I could fudge up Armenians from
it. Various Crusades if I rebase some CB figures & use Norman spear.

For the Open, I'd really like to use my 25mm wheelies since I missed
the inaugueral ball. NKE or Mitanni. But I really ought to have a
clue as to how to employ light chariots and runners. In 15mm, I
don't know if I can do 1600 points of Vikings, Anglo Danes, or
Normans.

I better to be having fun to make it worth the drive to get back so
D*mn early on Saturday :)

BTW, I notice that my copy of Biblical Warrior has a blank page where
page 54 ought to be. Is anything missing from list #35?

I live in Maryland. We top the list for heroin addiction, syphilis,
violent crime, and political corruption. So if you visit, expect to
be drugged, raped, robbed, and then taxed for the experience.[Attrib

>Doug, literally any army will be easy to run in FW. Using Norman spear for C
rusader foot is also entirely appropriate. I'm guessing that the Crusades lis
ts might be a tad bit easier to run than Thematic mainly because of the shock
cav and infantry whereas you're sorta dodging and weaving with Thematics. Aga
in, with only 6-7 units to play around with, you'll be okay. I can also ensur
e you get somebody across the table that will help you learn the game without
also wanting to take you to the cleaners.

For the Open, I'd really like to use my 25mm wheelies since I missed
the inaugueral ball. NKE or Mitanni. But I really ought to have a
clue as to how to employ light chariots and runners. In 15mm, I

>Hmmm, armies based around light chariots and runners in an open environment m
ight frustrate you so some extent despite the totally cool and fun nature of r
unning such armies. Of all the periods, this one probably works the "least be
st" outside of period (ie Open). 2 horse LCh or even the skirmishing 2 horse
HCh (Hittites in the Mittanian list) while causing unease are usually targets
for just about any opposing mounted troops and when your chariots rout, invari
ably your infantry doesn't have the overall morale to withstand tons of waver
checks. Man, I hate saying this because I have 2 25mm armies and 1 15mm army
in this period and it is a LOAD of fun to play, you just need to stay within p
eriod, at least as far as NKE and Mittanian are concerned. A lot will depend
on what kind of lead you have. Mittanians require more chariots but have thos
e nice regular LMI bowmen. Again, a real finesse approach to the game knowing
you'll most likely be overmatched (on paper) by at least 1 opponent. NKE has
fewer regular missile troops assuming you want to load up on missile fire in
the hopes of outshooting most of your opponents. Still, it will require quite
a bit of slick play to make it work. These are just my opinions fwiw.

>Your 15mm options are somewhat better, I mean the Normans are good and Jon an
d I (heh heh, fwiw) are convinced the DAW Viking list has loads of potential.
Since you're driving, you might consider bringing both scales since 15mm has
been sparsely attended at FI. Again, I'll be there with armies in both scales
and I know Bill will haul down 15mm lead.

>Don't get me wrong, showing up playing to win win win isn't always every play
ers end goal. I just think you'll find dealing with the basics of the game mu
ch easier if you play armies that are a bit more "move to point A, charge, rol
l up and win" oriented. That way you won't trip over yourself in trying to ma
ke things work and the three DAW lists you reference certainly do that. I'm w
orking on Anglo-Danes in 25mm. They'll eventually transmogrify into First Cru
sade for next year's presumed theme.

Curator of the Nedwich Collection, plus some chariots of mine. Loads
of Partha infantry waiting to be painted. I missed Bob's wheelie
mega-game because my wife was in the hospital, and I missed the
Warrior Biblical theme convention.

That's what I figured too; have to see if I have enough lead. This
was the killer problem with TOG too; when I got 1000 points they went
to 1200...

Is FW only in 15mm or do you plan on 25mm as well?

>The FW Theme is 15mm only. The FW Open is in both although we'll see how man
y people show up to play in both scales. As always, I'll be there with two ar
mies to float.
