Hello all,

I have been noticing a distinct increase in the lack of respect in
response to topics of discussions.

Come on guys, chill out.
We are all in a very small hobby and do not need to drive people away
because of the tone in a response to something that is disagreed with.

It is ok to disagree but do not take ideas contrary to yours as a direct
personal attack.
Disagreement and debate are the life blood of any vibrant society.
Societies die when debate is ridiculed and forced out.

Change in this hobby has been constant over the 30 years I have been in
it. What has been considered to be the best answer to simulate an aspect
of the battlefield one year is out the next year and then resurrected as
a fresh new idea in some later year. The quest for the "perfect"
simulation will continue and will never cease changing. Static
conditions generly show societies that are in decline.

This is not a call for change for the sake of change, only that the heat
of a responce is kept to a reasonable level.

Ed

If I was Jon, and as a good friend who will see him at lunch, I'd tell him
to simply stop answering the questions that keep getting repeated and simply
refer the individual to review the past messages of this e-group. You have
the subject listing, simply open up the past messages. For every repeated
answer that must be typed out, (and it is usually the same 4-5 people with
their pet peeve) that is a rule that is not being finalized so the rules can
actually be published.

<<P.S. Why do the additional emailers get to have concerns and desires, but
all we get are pet peeves? ~laughs~>>

Trust me, Greg, the guys who write me off line have plenty of pet peeves.
Plenty. :)

Jon

With all due respect Michael ... Jon can't afford not to answer these
postings, because Jon has a game to sell, and the precious, passionate few,
complete with their strong opinions (NOT to be confused with pet peeves),
are the ones that will increase "player-ship" past the basic group that will
buy Warrior as soon as it is available.

The whole point of Warrior you see, is to get a game that many people are
passionate about, and write it in a way that new players can understand. 7.6
had our passion, but at the same time, only one out of five people you
exposed to the game could ever make it through the rule book.

That's why, no matter how aggressive the discussion gets here, there is
virtually no down side for Jon and the FHE. EVERY one of us will play
Warrior, and convert all of our friends to the new set. Those of us that
care enough to write on this board, will care enough to bust our butt to
ensure we have lots of opponents, hence more game sales.

So, please don't blame us for fighting hard to get our point across ... that
is just the nature of the beast. Also, let me assure you that Jon is not all
upset and bothered by the postings here, rather the opposite I would think.
I can't think of anything a vendor would want more than a group of
passionate consumers.

Thank you ... Greg

P.S. I once read this about emails;

1. If you write a "nice" email, nobody will read it seriously.

2. If you write an assertive email, it will turn into a nasty email.

3. If you write a congratulatory email, it will sound line insincere
pandering.

4. Nobody can see your smile, no matter how many Smile's you put on an email.

Greg, Thank you for telling me that I don't know what is on the mind of
someone I usually see everyday. Also, what you don't see or know about are
all of the additional e-mails that are all about Warrior, and are not on
this e-group. All of those people have concerns, and desires about the
game, but for one reason or another don't want to be part of this e-group.
I can also tell you that profit is not driving the train on Warrior, I know
this directly from half of the FHE. And as the guy who assisted/developed
the charts for the final product I think I do know about some of the things
I write about.

I agree completely that profit is not the motivating factor at work here.
That is why I didn't use that word in my original posting. I do think
though, that it would be the FHE's desire to sell a lot of games, providing
many players for the game we love. It's certainly my desire, and I will make
no profit or loss one way or the other.

Obviously I was speaking parenthetically, and for the purpose of the entire
group.
