Jon,

having units "pulled out of" a terrain feature they are defending,
simply because the charging unit can't conform, is absolute silliness!

I believe Don has done a great deal towards solving this unpleasant
situation. However, I feel you should break down the solution into:

1) if the charged BODY gains no combat advantage from remaining in
its current position, ONLY THEN move it to conform to the charging
unit.

2) if charging and charged bodies cannot be placed into rectilinear
contact, then treat them as though they are. However, when resolving
first contact combat, any such body that takes at least 1 CPF AND
gets the worse of H2H suffers a "become disordered combat result"

The rationale behind 2) is that
a) whoever has got the best of first contact has imposed their will
upon the (debated) situation, such that their opponents suffer
gravely
b) this issue has caused many combat disorders on this egroup [ Smile
], and besides, anyone who sets things up in such a way may have to
suffer for their sins...

I offer no coherent solution: just a few ideas for you to consider.

PS: if the bodies aren't in rectilinear contact, you'll have to work
out how to determine After-Combat movement...

Have fun,

Terry!
