Some of you will know that the Editor of Slingshot is looking for people
to refight certain battles with various sets of rules for write-ups to
be included in the magazine.
Myself and my group were interested in doing the latest one - The Battle
of Barnet - 1471 - part of 'The Wars of the Roses'.
If any of the other members of this chatgroup feel like having a go, the
editor was very keen to get as many people involved as possible so drop
him a line via the SOA website for more info.
It would be good publicity for the rules if a substantial number of the
refights used them.
As with all WOR battles, it is relatively small 9 - 12,000 men on the
Yorkist side and 12 - 15,000 on the Lancastrian. Think 'KINGMAKER' by
Avalon Hill.
For the refight, we were wondering if anyone had any ideas on how the
potential for treachery by other nobles could be portrayed, both sides
had nobles whom weren't trusted, Edward IV's brother, the Duke of
Clarence was the son-in-law of the opposing commander (Warwick) and had
already changed sides twice in the previous two years ! (Unreliable Ally
Generals ?) and also how the mistaken identity of returning troops could
be simulated, some were shot at by there own side in the fog, who
misidentified them as the enemy.
Hope some of you will join in and thanks for any help forthcoming.
Les.

Les
Very interesting stuff!
In my work for Campaign Warrior, I am making conversions for all the
cards/troops into Warrior units. Would any of that be useful?
Some time ago I offered up an historical scenario design contest. I
have had no takers (thus calling into question those who claim to be
history only on here and not tourney players...lol). If you made a
scenario for slingshot and sent it to me, I'd award you the contest
prize, which, if I remember correctly, was a list book of your choice
for free and getting the scenario, with credit, into the 2d printing
of Warrior.
In Campaign Warrior, subgenerals who have mercenary troops made to
fight their original owners become unreliable, with a 1-3 to switch
sides as opposed to a 1.
As for the troops arriving in the mist, might I suggest that both
sides reinforcements are placed in a 'pool' and units come out of the
pool represented by a marker with the unit name on the reverse side.
They move on according to some auto-move and route and when they come
into visibility distance they become known for who they really are
and the marker is replaced.
Jon

Ok, Les, I'll get you my draft of those units as soon as I can.

Jon,
That would be very useful indeed, thanks very much.
I wondered what happened to that competition I'll see what I
can do.
