Greg,
You know I do not agree with any of what you said. Let's leave it at that.
Instead of testing my resolve not to get into a discussion of various versions
of things now in the PAST, how about you send me those graphics.... :)

I think I might (and I'm not sure on this) be the person that came up with the nutty-ass V formation around here. IMO, two things have cleared up this issue. First the clarification of what constitutes a gap, which is still not written the way it was explained, but has been explained none the less; and second, the idea that units can't charge if they can't conform. This last part in particular takes this problem out of the mix.
I must say though Jon that this only came up in "Warrior", and never in 7th Edition. My very first post on this board read something like, "Jon, are you aware of the problems that can exist with the way you have your gap rules written and the requirement to match up in order to have a charge happen?" Your response at the time was, "Yes, I'm working on it."
Now, you want to make this sound like something that is sleezy in some way, and would get people kicked out of your house. All I can say is ... whatever!
The problem with all this of course is that we play this game for enjoyement and to win. People will come up with innovative ideas that are legal by the rules, but that some may not like. You can call them names all you want, but in reality most people are just pissed that they didn't think of it first!
We all know that most historical battles were fought in straight lines and that most of the time the superior armor/weapons system won out. When we remove formational rules and wrap rules (still the best rule ever added to 7th Edition, IMO), we turn our game into a great historical simulation that is BORING to play, or we go back to the days when about four armies were competitive at tournaments based on army lists.
Thanks you ... Greg
