Jon,
Question on variable moves under Probe orders.
Under Probe, Charges and pursuits can not add any optional distance,
unless impetous.
6.112 Variable Moves: "....Mounted troops scoring 5 or 6 can choose to
add or deduct 80 paces ..."
The only choice given under 6.112 Variable Moves: with a 5 or 6 is to go
up or down, not stay at normal. Logically, a roll of a 5 or 6 requires a
unit under Probe orders to deduct as they are not allowed to add, and
staying even is not listed as a choice.
Is this your intent?
Ed

Unless impetuous, and then Probers can add.
6.112 says 'can' add - not 'must' add, so staying even is a choice.
