Thanks to Ed Bernhart and Charlie Randow for running/assisting in the Fast
Warrior demo games on Thu and Sat. And thanks to Ed for running the theme on
Friday. The more help we can get doing things outside the tourney scene, the
more rules we sell, the more we can support the game, etc. etc. etc.
Thanks to everybody who was patient with the learning process (for all of us) as
we plumb the depths of what's new and different in Warrior. It's clear that
playing FW, while highly enjoyable for many of us, doesn't bring up many of the
nuances of the game that take digging and knowledge of the rules. But that's
always been the allure of the system to me.
Thanks to the guys at On Military Matters for this "grudge match" concept. The
Late Crusaders retook Jerusalem (presumably) after defeating 3 of Saladin's 4
commands and killing him in the process. Next year, we've decided, tentatively,
to do another 4 on 4 game, this time in 25mm, they running EIR and us running,
get this, Picts! All armies from IW of course:) :)
Thanks to everybody who played. I don't have firm numbers in terms of overall
attendance by game system but, of each day's "max", we came in a close second to
WAB which had 50 players on Friday and we had 48 players on Saturday! That's
right, 48 Warriors participated in the NICT and Open on Saturday, our biggest
one day total in a looooooong time. And even better, Sunday morning, we had 24
Warrior players playing, 8 in the NICT finals, 4 in the 25mm Mini finals, 2 in
the 25mm Theme finals, and 10 in Fast Warrior. HMGS always bemoans the total
lack of games on Sunday morning. If you came down into the Lampeter, we were
running (between us and DBA) about 60 players, by far the largest Sunday morning
participation in Hcon's history.
Thanks to everybody who bought FeudWar and the generally positive comments. At
least this time, I didn't have somebody come up to me and go "well, you sure
screwed >insert someone's favorite army here<". The Swiss Pikemen list rule was
an eye opener! For more details, purchase the book:) :)
More details later in the week as I dig out from work and catch up on sleep (16
hour car ride from Lancaster to work).

Who won the NICT and with what army?
16 hour car ride, no sleep, straight into work. The top 4 finishers (more
details later in the week as I recover and have time to work on things):
1) Derek Downs, Silla Korean (the totally unknown list from Huckleberry Finn &
Clark)
2) Ted Furey, Hunnerd Years War English
3) Rob Turnball, Berbers
4) Mike Kelly, Midianites
The "trend", if there was such a thing which there wasn't, was that 3 of the top
4 finishing armies were missile-intensive lists. No one who's played Derek in
an open environment over the years should be suprised at his choice, he's always
favored missile heavy armies. And for those who fear Moog World Domination
based on the Berber's performance here, former NICT champeeeeen Dave Markowitz
ran Catalan Company in the 25mm Theme and, er, um, didn't perform up to his
usual standards:) Moreover, the Berbers faced the HYWE list in the last
round and fought to a 3-3 draw. To Rob's credit (and something that will give
the Moog World Domination clique more ammo), if he'd won that last game 4-3, he
woulda won the whole enchilada....I think.....still need to run some of the
"what if" numbers.
The other 4 "finalists" who played on Sunday morning were:
Phil Gardocki, Islamic Persian
Sean Scott, Italian Condotta
Dave Markowitz, Gupta Indian
Todd Kaeser, Khmer.
When you look at it, 2 elephant armies made the cut, 2 knight armies made the
cut and the rest had copious amounts of missile fire at their disposal. Lemme
tell ya, nothing looks better than Mike Kelly's massive horde o' Midianties in
25mm, wonderful spectacle.
