Paul and all who read his post on the virus:

This is a hoax. You will actually be deleting an exe file that is of value
to you and will want to replace it once you have deleted it. We had the same
thing happen at my work place, with the exact same warning and the IT guys
spent a week replacing the file on all the computers. Anyone who has not,
should not delete the file as instructed in this HOAX virus warning.

I found this as suspected and have got rid of it as per instructions. Sorry for
the inconvenience.
Paul

I have just looked into my e-mail box and I find that a virus has been
transmitted to my computer through someone's address list. A friend has sent
me an e-mail drawing attention to the fact that his computer my have
automatically have sent it to my computer and through my address list to your
computer.

He passed on this information on how to detect it and erase it.

"The virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by any Norton or McAfee
anti-virus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the
system. It is sent automatically be the messenger and by Address Book, whether
or not you send emails to your contacts. I have checked, found it, and deleted
it. Here is how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it:

DO THIS:
1 Go to start, Find or Search option
2 In the files/folder option, write the name jdbgmgr.exe
3 Be sure to search your C:drive
4 Click "find now"
5 The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe

DO NOT OPEN IT

6 Right click and delete it. It will then go to the recycle bin
7 Go to the recycle bin and delete it there as well

IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE ON YOUR ADDRESS BOOK SO
THAT THEY CAN ERADICATE IT IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOKS

The original message came froma Paula Newby on some commercial firm
(design2trade) via Professor Crispian Scully in UCL."

Sorry about this - I had no control over it but unless everyone on your address
book also deletes it it could come back to you and to me! People you design
these viruses are a real menace!

Best wishes,

Lindsay

Not so fast ... apparently this is a hoax. I am advised (by one of my
knowledgeable sons) that the file in question is the Java Debugger Manager
and comes installed on all Windows operating systems.

Go to www.cnet.com and search for "jdbgmgr.mgr + hoax" or go to
http://news.com.com/2100-1040-916145.html for further information.
