It appears that we have enough interest to run two tourneys at
Twistercon.
First, there was someone on this list who was coordinating this with the
Tornado Alley HMGS folks. Before we proceed any further, do we have any
confirmation on their ability to host us for this event? Assuming that
to be so (for now), here's what I envision:
Saturday, Warrior tourney in 25mm, Fast Warrior tourney in 15mm.
David Smith has indicated he could provide terrain boards. I suggest,
then, that we do an open event (all 276 armies, unhistorical matchups)
with preset terrain and a round robin format. Time per rounds could be
1.5 hours. One alternative would be to setup historical matchups and
have players play one side or the other, then move onto another
historical pairing, etc., until everybody has worked through the
pairings. I lean toward idea number one for this tourney just to see
what kind of interest we get. Number of rounds would be driven by
number of players. If we have six players each bringing his own army,
then a round robin tourney would work quite nicely just on Saturday.
The Warrior tourney will be 1600 points, one version (not the usual 2
versions), 25mm, 8x5 tables. Anyone needing a 25mm army should post to
the egroup what they want and we'll take it from there. 3 rounds on
Saturday. We *should* be able to come up with a winner in a 8-10 person
tourney just on Saturday.
I have one person coming in with possibly a "custom" list. That would
be Sean Scott running Swiss. If that occurs, he will have my permission
to do so. Regardless, he is making plans to come and play.
So, with the above in mind, can I get a general head count again? Sorry
to ask this but I think it will help us with HMGS in terms of what
space/tables we'll need.
Jon and I will be there playing and will jointly umpire. If we have odd
numbers of players, either of us can float into the Fast Warrior tourney
or play together as a 1600 point "team".
Woo hoo, let's go! Remember, if you need 25mm lead and can't get it
locally, post here and we'll take care of you. I also promise to give
"easy" first round pairings to 25mm virgins:) :)

***Uhmmm Scott, the guys I might bring have 25mm. I would like to
sponsor a 25mm FW tourney, not 15mm. I would also like to donate
some painted troops, some unpainted Foundry 25mm's, and a TableTop
G&H gift certificate. I'll let you and Jon, determine what the
prizes are for. I'll try and have 6 for the FW tourney, and will
keep you posted.

Oops, I thought the interest was in 15mm. I'm all for 25mm,
particularly if we have loaner armies available for people

I am planning to come up as part of the DFW contingent. I am not sure what
25mm figures might be available locally yet, but if a Greek or Alexandrian
Macedonian army were available that would be great. I have a 15mm
Alexandrian army, and might use them in a 15mm tourney if one happens.

If you like eye candy, you might like the board that DFW will bring. Chris
and I have been working on a 5'x8' board for Twistercon.
We (DFW group) will also have some game mats and other terrain.

Keep me posted. I have plenty of generic Alexandrian trash.
