David ...
I was looking at your website and am very impressed with your work. Thank you so
much for sharing. I have a quick question for you.
Do you use a very thin wash around the boss on your shields to get a weathered
effect, or is it a bit of photographic shading? I like washes, but have always
gone with "out of the factory" looking shields. I like the weathered effect you
are getting.
tks ... g

***I assume you mean the picture of the Xyston Greeks. With those
figures I have painted the shields Foundry Brazen, shaded with Raw
Sienna ink from Kohr-i-noor, and highlited the rim with Foundry
Gold/Shiny.
I like washes, but have always gone with "out of the factory"
looking shields. I like the weathered effect you are getting.
***Actually, just was trying to show a little depth with the
figure. On 15mm figures I feel the need to overexaggerate the
detail so that the figures look more '3 dimensional'.

Is there any way I could get a ride to TwisterCon with one of the D/FW guys? It
is just too far to drive from San Antonio for three games. I would consider
going if I could fly or only had to make the D/FW trek.
We had a crew going at one time, but they had to cancel due to a meeting of
pu$$y whipped anonymous. Looks like it is just me, if I can get it worked.
Has anyone done the airlines with 25mm figures? Do the airlines let you carry
an army on?
Peace ...

Gents;
For those that are interested I have completed a long overdue update
to my website. I have primarily refreshed and expanded the page of
my current project which is the army I will play the most in '05,
the Early Imperial Romans. Link to the EIR page is here:

This site is not for the faint of bandwidth. Takes a while to load,
even with broadband, so go make breakfast or lunch while it loads
and enjoy your meal to some great looking stuff. Fantastic job,
Dave!
What's nice to see are the Parthians *and* the fact that they're
sculpted to fit 4 to a base. That's a long overdue recognition by
figure makers that the width of the base simply ain't gonna change.

<DS>Yeah, I need to remember not everyone has cable modem or DSL.
I'll probably go to a thumbnail version which should load faster.
Thanks for the kind words.

<DS>John;
They are on hold actually. I'm finding that the OG range that I have
may require more cosmetic surgery on the figures than I'm willing to
do. If you are familiar with the OG line, sometimes their figures
are in very awkward poses. Sometimes the heads have been placed on
the body really weird and unnatural. In the past I've been willing
to do the necessary, uhmm, adjustments. But, I've ordered all the
new ranges Asian ranges from T.A.G., which may head me in a Mongol
or Chinese direction.

Dave,
You're killing me! Everytime I think my LIR's are coming along you
put out these beautiful pictures! Next time we link up at TT or
somewhere I'd like to talk about cart mounted bolters, using multi-
company lead. I'm presently using dental floss for strings, but will
look at wire!

Dave,
Beautiful figures. Question: Can you bring an example of the rub
on decals you mentioned to Table Top tonight. I'd really like to
see them.

Dave,
Additionally, Will and a few others were wondering if you could give a
painting class. Your style is excellent and I for one would like to be able to
emulate it.

KP;
You flatter me. I'll try and make it over to TT next Monday to do a
painting class for those that are interested. If I can get a 1200
point game in (25mm) too, then that would be plus!!
Charles;
I can't make it tonight, but see above. Additionally, you can check
out Steve's (LBMS) website here:
http://www.littlebigmenstudios.co.uk/Shield%20Transfers.htm
I'll bring a couple of samples and demonstrate next Monday.
Dave
PS Anyone up for a 1200 point game next Monday at TT?
