We didn't have enough for a tournament at ConQuest this past weekend, but Dale
Shanek, Ed Forbes, and I had various pick games (25mm, 1200 points). Some rules
questions came up.
(1) For this question, refer to the file "shooting_arc.ppt" in the "Rules
Questions" folder of the files section for this group. Red has a unit of
bow-armed LI projecting at an angle slightly behind Blue's flank. Blue has a
unit that is HI in the front (elements 1 and 2), and MI in the back (elements 3
and 4).
The question is, does Blue shoot at HI or MI? In other words, does "nearest in
arc" refer to "nearest element in arc (HI)", or "best available target type for
nearest unit in arc (MI)". Also, does it matter that Red is projecting behind
Blue's flank?
(2) A unit pursues an enemy off table. When it returns, must it return in the
same formation as when it left? Can it return in a different formation if that
formation would enable it to get back on table faster? Must it return in a
different formation if a different formation would enable it to get entirely on
table in one move?
Ed, we had a third question come up. Do you remember what it was?

Question 1: 8.92: "Nearest rank eligible..."
Question 2: Any formation, as long as it is coming on as fast as possible
(6.821).

One other issue was when LI must choose to test or declare a recall vs close /
loose inf in clear.
Do the LI choose before or after results of prep shooting are known?
