Always good to see a Warrior tourney advertised...

Will you be allowing lists from non-FHE books that have been 'superceded' by
FHE lists?

Whoa there big husky! It was just a clarification question. An event
organizer can have an event any way he or she wants.

And if I said somewhere that I would not attend a Warrior tourney just
because it used non-FHE lists where an FHE list has been published (and I
don't believe I did, but Don is good at producing ancient texts with my name
on them..lol), I hereby retract it.

I have no argument at all with anything you said in your mail and I am kind
of shocked that you felt it necessary to tell me all that stuff. I was just
asking because it wasn't clear, not because I 'object' in some way.

Winter War is a no-go for me. Cons I am attending next year is already at 7
with 3 more undecided. And one more being run at my house..lol Can't add
any more. Has nothing to do with format.

Jon

Jon,

Yes, I understand the need to push FHE products, especially the army list (I
own all three, despite only owning one army); however, we are attempting
make the tournament as flexible and easy on new Warrior or returning 6th/7th
Edition players in order to build the Southwest Region Warrior Base. I
believe if we remain flexible and encourage former players to return with
whatever army lists and army they have, we will increase the player base in
the southwest and across the US. Which in the long run benefits all of us.
Sometime in the future, we will have to make a change to only allow FHE
lists, but until we have a large following, it would be best for Warrior
Tournaments to remain flexible, especially regional tournaments!

I have notice on previous emails, you mention that lack of Warrior players
throughout the country as a major concern of yours, especially those former
6th/7th Edition players who have left for DBM and are not returning to
Warrior. What if we make it easy and cheap for players to return to or
start playing Warrior. Let these new and returning players participate with
whatever army and army list they have. Let them learn the rules and play a
few tournaments and they will see how much better Warrior is to DBM and WAB
and once we have "hooked" on Warrior, then we invite them to change to FHE
army lists and encourage them to paint new lead. Remember, more new and
returning players we get to play Warrior, the more new and returning player
they will in return get to play. I know it is a vicious circle, but we need
to get a large base of players committed to Warrior if it is going to
succeed and out number DBM/WAB or at a minimum have a substantial following.

I know you are very committed to FHE and in the past have stated that you
will not attend any regional tournaments that allow superceded list, I hope
you and the other FHE will look past this and attend Winter War. Remember,
Arlington, TX is only eight-hours by car (or two-hours by airplane) south of
your current location.

Respectfully,
Harlan
Arlington, TX

Now *there* is something we might agree on....
Look to future list rules.....muhuhahahahaha

I notice you haven't exactly stormed into the x-rules and found this rule
there and playtested it for us....:)

and I might die laughing over your objections to it.

1. Crossbow use was the EASIEST thing to teach. Why the nobility hated it.
2. Longbowmen typically responded to the 'army's' call trained in its use,
halberdiers typically had to be trained by the 'army' they joined.

let it go, man.

Greg, Greg, Greg....

At no time have I EVER asked for anyone's opinion on the point cost of 2HCT.
Personally, I could go my whole life without hearing the issue again...lol

And I will NEVER EVER ask anyone's opinion on any other issue I consider
closed. Like stirrups..... ack

As for 'beating people up', really - do you feel beat up? Come on. After
calling what you know is a closed issue 'laughable', no little joke I might
make should make you feel 'beat up'... SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile:)

1.5 rank 2HCT - now THERE's an open issue.....

Is $5 per game really that expensive? We will throw in free Cowboys tickets. 1
for first place, two for second, three for third and you have to take five if
you don't place.

Greg

P.S. I think I might just die laughing over the 2HCT point cost issue. If the
double pointage was due to training, why do the crossbow and longbow cost the
same?

The fix is easy, let them fight 1.5 ranks, like they should have all along. Are
they an LTS with an axe head, or a JLS with an axe head, you make the call? Both
of those weapons fight 1.5.

Do us a favor and don't make it just charging, etc ... the last thing we need is
something else to give irregular foot.

my two cents ... g

I am with you on this one Kelly. I will not play two games on Sunday for
some sense of playoff. It is ridiculous in concept. Every major tournament
out there simply tallies points at the end and declares a winner. Unless
there are brackets and consilation routes a playoff is a name only. For this
reason I rarely play the games scheduled for Sunday in the Texas tournaments.
I cannot speak for the others in DFW, but I think the majority of folks up
here feel the same way, at least in regards to playing on Sunday, not
necessarily for the same reasons as me.

There is often the need for a single playoff game sunday morning at CW and
HCon is tourneys that are close after three rounds, but it *is* avoided
unless it has to be done out of fairness. Usually about 50% go to playoffs,
is that right Scott?

So we always have a single sunday morning 'round' blocked out if necessary.

Why do you ask for opinions, then beat people up for having them?

Your point about the crossbow was exactly mine. Anyone could use it, with little
or no training. Contrast that with the longbow that did required training, or
the pike that required a good amount of unit drill.

For Scott - yes I got the email you sent and will work on it right now. Sorry
for the delay, Christmas shopping sneeked up on me.

There are two Sunday playoff games for those that make it, and team games for
everyone that doesn't. The Sunday team games are the bomb! It is almost better
than making the playoffs. They usually try to pick nice matchups.
