...grasped the subtlety of my strategy young Grasshopper. I do not plan to
 
(well not usually...) "send troops to their certain death" as you put
 
it. Instead, I allow for the possibility (indeed, probability) that they
 
will die. The difference is small but critical.  I would be happiest if I
 
could win every battle without losing any troops.  That ain't gonna
 
happen, so you have to make your plan based upon reality.  I know that
 
this is not a new idea to you, but folks tend to forget that even a
 
barbarian foot army requires thought to play well.
