Hi All
Just a post to let you know about the latest Australian Competition. It was held in the Blue Mountains New South Wales and was a 15mm 1500 point comp held over 5 rounds on 3 days.
The results are as follows
Place Player Army Points
1 Greg Preston Early Selucid 21
2 Paul Collins Early Hungarian 16
3 Brad Leonard Sassinid 16
4 Guy Sheppard Wallachian 15
JohnBall Alexandrian 15
6 Darren Holmes Qin Chinese 14
Ian Poade Italian Condotta 14
8 Mark Ball Free Company 13
Mike Morgan Later Crusader 13
10 Tibor Lendvai Koryo Korean 11 (3 rounds)
Paul Rattray Xianbei 11
12 Nathan Jones Fuedal Spanish 9
13 John Harris Later Greek (Spartan) 6
14 Chris Webber Thracian 4 (4 rounds)

Overall it was a great weekend with all players playing in a friendly and competitive manner. It was good to see so many people travelling to the cold climes of Katoomba.

Thanks for sharing. It's always interesting to see what armies play out in an Open event somewhere other than here.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to play but was able to pop in on the Sunday of the long weekend to watch for a while.

For non-Australian gamers - the tournament had pre-set terrain, as do most tournaments here. The tables were I think 6 by 4 and normal deployment was used. A single 1500 point list was used.

The mix of armies was very good and there appeared to be a real emphasis on close order foot throughout the tournament, for instance I believe Darren Holmes' Chinese had approximately 180 close order foot of one kind or another.

Another feature of the tournament was use of temporary fortifications. This has not been a big feature of play in Australia generally, but at least two armies in this tournament had ditches or similar.
