Hi Jon,
According to the Circulating combatants rules certain types of Roman troops can perform the following...
3) Interpenetrate another body of such legionaries (6.52) not in "fulcum" to replace it in combat (6.163 and 6.523). Legionaries interpenetrating other legionaries in this way to replace them in combat are not disordered by virtue of the third and fourth bullets in 6.521, but are subject to all other causes of disorder specified in that section.
Considering that this ability is in effect replacing another unit in combat, I was wondering if a unit of Velites/Leves/rorarii could replace another unit lets say that is fighting elephants, since the rule doesn't call this a charge per se?
Call me crazy(I'm sure I've been called worse), but I've been toying with a nutty(X rule) idea that Light infantry should be able to charge elephants straight up. . . Yeah, it would never fly, but could this happen as the list rule is written?
