A freind and I played a game last night. He took his HC general and joined a unit of LC. The next bound he wanted to leave the LC behind and join a nearby unit of HC. We searched the rules for some time without finding any help on what happens when a general leaves a unit he has joined. Does this mean (a) you can't do it at all? (b) there are no restrictions on doing it? (c) the restrictions are the same as upon joining?

In the event, my opponent decided the move was a bad idea, so the issue became moot, but we are still curious. How do you do it?

In the same game, the HC general, having joined a unit of LC, declared and impetuous charge on a unit of HC. We felt this was OK even though neither the LC nor the general (a single element) could have legally declared the charge on its own. Were we right?

Until I figure out what is up with this - consider this official:

The move away from the joined unit is the reverse of the move to join: one body must be stationary that phase and all rules for maneuvers, interpenetration, etc. must be followed.

Thanks, Jon. BTW, were we correct that the general can lead a charge witrh a LC unit against HC by joining the LC?

That is correct. For extra fun, do it with a LCh general attached to LC!
