Hi

I have not yet got a copy of the rules, they are on order. I ordered them as I wanted to make a computerized game playing aid for Ancients, and I thought that 7th were a good starting point. (I have both editions of 7th - and then discovered Warrior).

However my question is has this already been done?

Thanks

Peter

I'm unaware of any significant computerized play aids for Warrior (or previous.)

Hi Frank

Well I will try and push on (once my rules arrive). The lists I ordered from the US have arrived, but the rules from here in the UK have not Exclamation

IThe prog is very simple at the moment, all manual entry and no data base.

I see you're a Java Warrior Wink...

There are typically three classes of software product around physical games. I'll use Warrior terms.

1) A simple toolkit that lets a player run calculations and build army lists with point checking. This would be useful before and during a battle, but doesn't involve playing or simulating the game.

2) A next step, permitting a mapboard to be virtually defined and terrained, simple graphics for bodies of troops (rectangles), etc. It does not contain any rules enforcement or artificial intelligence...but does let you move troops around with legal distances and wheels, etc., and shows troops states, effects of terrain...There may be a network layer permitting two players on different machines to use the virtual game table to play Warrior, although they still have to fully understand and employ the rules.

3) The final step...where the game is instantiated with rules adjudication, network layer, and possibly an AI player.

Even #1 above would be quite useful.

Frank
