Jon--

Something from today's game that I've not seen.

Two shaken units in hand-to-hand.

The mounted body does 3 in h2h, the foot 1 or 0.

According to 11.223 the mounted unit meets the criteria for making a breathrough move and as there are no units behind the shaken foot that prevent the "cannot move nearer to known enemy" criteria in 5.14 --a breakthrough seems legal.

But the unit breaking though cannot recover from shaken because 5.14 does not identify breakingthrough a unit as a criteria for recovering from shaken.

Do I have this right?

Reversing the results, assuming the foot unit took the charge at a halt. Can the foot breakthrough the mounted unit (assuming no units behind the mounted prevent a breakthrough) even though the foot could not pursue the mounted in the event it rolls up enough to rout the mounted?
Seems this breakthrough move is the only way for a foot unit that received a mounted charge to end up forward of its original position.

Thanks

The answer is no.

Entering a body is getting closer to it.

So much that is both good and bad about the human experience can be summed up by this ruling....lol
