The Battle of Plataea 25mm Warrior game was held on Memorial Day Weekend, Sunday, May 27th. Skip Gardella and Harmon Ward set up the board and despite it's size we were ready to go before the attendees arrived. Antonio, David Brown, Andrew Zastor, Steve Reid and Rick Brown took sides and the Persians and the Greeks fought once again for glory. On the right flank the Persian cavalry dominated but the Spartan and Athenian Hoplites were difficult to budge in the center and left. The Perisans on the left flank were sacrificing their light troops to wear down the Spartan flank, and they did a very good job, of being sacrificed. The game was a lot of fun but had to be called when half the players needed to leave to attend another scheduled game. It is always a little difficult leading newcomers through the Warrior rules but they are looking forward to what we are going to be putting on for Gateway Convention on Labor Day. If visiting Southern California is part of you end of the summer plans, stop in a play a game on Sunday morning, we will be there!
Attendance at the Con seemed to be down a bit, and I read that the "30 years of Star Wars" convention had 35,000 attendees. Since Pasadena and Los Angeles are so close together, that might have had something to do with it. |
