I just ordered a bunch of MDF bases from Gale Force Nine. They are very nice. They use a laser to cut them so the are very accurate for size and shape. You can order the bases in varying sizes and they are not very expensive. Here is the web site if anyone is interested.

Sheesh...new fangled technological gadgets!

In my day we tore chunks of wood apart with our teeth for basing!

I am a Litko Aerosystems laser cut wood man myself. This new laser cuttinig technology and the commercial availability of pre-cut bases has made the hobby much easier and more enjoyable.

So what you are saying is that I am doing too much by using my scroll saw? Rolling Eyes

3mm balsa wood, pen, metal ruler, knife.

I don't churn out armies in under 4 days by patiently sawing bases.

Alas my record was one night - yes it is called the manic phase of manic depression but by darn it feels good to rock up the next day and hurl the troops into the fray. (gotta love the smell of fresh paint).

Nice thick balsa - gives stability formoving units (you can literally grab and push.)

I run them threw a table saw with a jig, I can get about 100 bases cut in (as long as they're the same dimensions) about 1/2 hour - 45 min... not too bad Cool
