Does anybody know if the celts at Bagrada Plains in the First punic war were gallic or Spanish celts. i am recreating the battle but don't know if they are gallic irreg MI with JLS or irreg Spanish scutarii LMI with HTW. I have checked numerous sources bu can't get a clear answer. I am assuming that they are more likely spanish.

thanks

Bruce

I found two wargame recreations of this online but in neither case do the people putting on the game specify the OOB.

There's a scenario book:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/34403

which covers this so I'd guess that author makes a guess as to which "celts" were there.

Like you, I'd think they'd be loose order Spanish.

thanks. i will keep looking. great battle but roman's are just outclassed by carthaginian combined arms. only way to balance is by the victory conditions - romans win if they only lose a little

My opinion is Spanish celts also...

By the way, this type of scenario scoring is a great way to offset other factors (hold the hill with 3+ units and you win, etc.)
