15mm Theme

Only had 4 people sign up: Jon Becker, John Garlic, Dave Dietrich and Ewan McNay. Dave left after the first game so his slot was filled in the second round by Jevon Garret and the third round by Aubrey Hopkins. Many thanks to both of them for stepping in. I don't have any results, such that they are.

8) Kelly Wilkinson, 6.1

As you can see, I don't have the list of armies from the Opens. If Steve has that somewhere, he can post it. I can piece together most of the 25mm I think: Greenspan=Italian Ostro, Parrish=Pyrrhic, Kroupa=Dunno, Kovel=E Pole, Richardson=Inca, OMM=Alex Imp, Richardson=Dunno, Wilkinson=Dunno.

I also don’t have Best Camp and Sportsman info, again, Steve can post that.

I'll get the NICT lists posted hopefully later this week. I'll also provide some comments on the whole show in a post subsequent to this one.

Some random thoughts:

Unlike Cold Wars where everybody's attendance was off, everything now seemed stable and I observed that across rules sets.

Rules questions were minimal and nothing new. Most of my work was as the Arbitrer of Geometry.

After 2 years of having the schedule roughly as it stands, I now have a better feel for the proper blend of time between rounds. One thing that everybody now agrees is that late endings suck. One thing we did on my two full days there was end everything by 9:30pm. That simply rocked. People ended the day not feeling drained.

Another observation related to this pertains to the 2 hour dinner break. Again, on both full days for me, I discovered that virtually all the players were back after 90 minutes essentially twiddling their thumbs.

So, what I'm gonna do next year is cut the dinner break down to 90 minutes. What this means on a '1600 point day" is that Rounds 1 and 2 will remain the same with an hour between rounds. When round 2 ends at 5pm, we'll start round 3 at 6:30pm (instead of 7pm) and that means everything's done by 10pm.

Alas, I can't really do this for Doubles at Cold Wars since those remain 4 hour games with an hour between games. Also, this won't change anything on a "1200 point day" in that there is 1 hour between rounds and everything still ends at a reasonable 9:30pm (assuming a noon start time).

Best Camp - Kelly Wilkinson
Sportsman - Rob Richardson

I think I have the open armies on the paper you left me, Scott. I will try and post those when I get home from work.

Congrats to Ewan, Bring the gold back to the northeast . So my Berkshire barbarians can waylay your treasure caravans coming to Albany. Laughing
You see, having a new baby does bring blessings.
Wish I could have been at H-con, each year things change and hopefully the windows of opportunity will open.
Todd-blue ti-dye(TV star) K asked if I was going and I replied "only if a miracle happened". Well, it almost did. I was getting my hopes up for a while, but then life changed.

Excellent stuff, Dr. K. Thanks very much. Please don't give up doing this. For those who can't make H'con from time to time, it's the next best thing to being there...But Ewan and co., where are those AAR's and List analyses?????
