In looking at the list, we found some discrepancies.
First, the Abna. The list notest state: "Abna troops were adept in open terrain and in cities, hence the option for loose order. " However, the line items that refer to abna are as follows:
Abna or Maghariba Reg C MI LTS Sh @ 16 pts ................................................................... 0-12
Extra to update Abna/Maghariba to HI @ 8 pts ..................................................................... any

There is no mention of loose order in the list itself.

Second, there is a line that states: Extra to upgrade Arab Spearmen and Bowmen to Reg B as Abid @ 8 pts ......................... 0-1/2

When looking at the Arab Spearmen and Bowmen, the line reads as follows:
Arab Spearmen Reg D or Irr C MI LTS, Sh @ 12 pts, or Irr C LMI JLS, Sh @ 9 pts ........................... 6-24
Arab Bowmen/Archers all Reg D or all Irr C MI/LI B @ 8 pts if MI, @ 4 pts if LI .................................. 6-24

Does this mean that only the close order versions of these troops can be upgraded to Reg B? Or is the upgrade line missing something?

Also, would it be possible to make the lines in the list notes that state who can be used with who a little easier to follow? This seems to be the most convoluted one out of all of the army list books.

The first one should have an LMI entry in the line. I'll make a change to the pdf file at some point.

The second one doesn't need any change per se. It means that the LI *archers" cannot be upgraded.

Does the RB upgrade only apply to the close order, or can the IC LMI spearmen be upgraded to RB?

After talking with Bill and doing some reviewing on how we've treated this in other lists, perhaps that above "no" was too hasty. Until we make a final determination, and since you want to try these guys this weekend, replace the following line:

Late Period (751 AD – 969 AD)
Extra to upgrade Arab Spearmen and Bowmen to Reg B as Abid @ 8 pts 0-1/2
with

Extra to upgrade Arab Spearmen and Bowmen to Reg C LMI as Abid @ 4 pts if MI, @ 7 pts if LMI ......................... 0-1/2
Extra to upgrade Abid Spearmen/Bowmen to Reg B @ 4 pts if MI, @ 7 pts if LMI ......................... any

This is TEMPORARY!!!!!! Try it (if you still want to) this weekend and let us know how it goes.
