				| On Sunday I played a 1200 point game - Seluicid vs Cartaginian I used the later Carthaginian list with hannibal as CiC and a slimmed down Seluicid list from last years nationals
Firstly my opponent was a newbie, so one would have expected me to win - and I did but only due to blind luck (I roll up 3 he rolls down three and I win combat with shaken elephants vs non - shaken following up elephants (My pike being the further difference maker)
With the new deployment rules - the denied flank etc is much less viable - one general each - but the bulk of the army on the table makes for a quick engagement.
We lined up with me as follows:
LC/LC on left flank then Peltasts/ Pike/Peltasts/ LI/LV on right flank
On my table edge were 3 unitsof EHC/HC and 2 units of 3 elephants
He had denied flank with African spearmen on my left Regular spanish Elephants irr spanish El reg and irr spanish behind LI/ Elephants and then 3 units of LC on my right
Turn one I counter my pike back and move elpehants up behind LI and to the left of my left Pike he charges my LC with his and I countercharge - he routs - but the following turn charges into the flank of the unit and routs them in turn (passes his waver tests), in the center I charge his LI to clear it away and he counter charges - I rout him, but do not maintain contact. The next turn his irr spanish charge my Peltasts in skirmish (counter) and catches me routing me , and my elephants fail waver test.
Things look really bad - but I get a flank and front charge on his regular spanish - and after three passed waver tests he finally fails one and I roll up his army from my left - while desperately holding on in the center with elephants shaken pasing a waver test and eventually beating unshaken (but tired ) elephants - amazing what a swing of 6 on the dice will do.
Good game - and hopefully a new addition to our gamers - end result 5-3 to me .
i feel like the biggest thing I learned was that being able to pick your targets is even more important now than before and deploying last is huge - may want to rethink how I run armies.

				| Sounds like a great game. I will rethink what you said about out scouting and having the opponent laying down first.
The last game which I will post I out scouting him and now I realize I should have picked my point of assault and load up on that point.
Thanks. See you Saturday and the Newbie.

				| After rereading your AAR. I think I will redo my list for Saturday.
Once more, Robert, you have helped me with my list.
