As opposed to the earlier terse AAR, here is the wordy version.

Imperial Mandarin Dereckus clacked his long fingernails together as he checked the deployment of the Later Tang army. Trashy militia was gathered in the center, cowering behind their shield with their trashy spears and wimpy arrows.

"Whoa is us" they muttered, "why can't we have rocks and rope like the spiffy Inca peasants."

On their flanks were elite troops from the capital and in reserve behind the despairing peasants were chinese and stoic Tibetan cataphracts. Stoically they stood there, mostly because their armor was too heavy to let them do anything else.

The great leader of the Inca, Certified Accountant, deployed his troops, amazed that since they had abandoned the earlier period and discovered scouting points, how much easier and larger their deployment was. The Inca generals gathered and discussed their new innovation of scouting points as they rode around looking spiffy. Their mentors on heavier horses weren't helping much with looking around, also apparently too heavily armored to do much more than stand around.

"Scouting points, this is pretty spiffy. Too bad we can't use rocks while mounted."

Meanwhile, the Inca army deployed. The Inca generals surveyed the flanks, which had lots of Inca peasants deployed with rocks and sticks. In the center however, technical innovations had continued. Hiring Spanish deserters, the center of the Inca army was now a wonder of technical innovation. No longer just an army with with rocks, there were now deserters in shiny material mined from rocks with tubes that fired rocks, as well as things that hurled small sticks. Next to them were more Incas who had been shown the innovation of big sticks. One could hear them snickering in Quechua at the lowly Tang peasants;

"You call that a stick? Check our bigger sticks!"

Battle commenced as the two armies closed on each other. The Inca peasants on the flanks realized that they were outnumbered by Tang, but did not despair as they knew they rely on the rocks beat sticks everytime. In the center the technically innovative Inca army closed on the despairing Tang peasants. The Inca big stickmen sneered as they closed on the peasants, pointing out to the despairing peasants that they had to shoot the tough deserters first instead of the unarmored Inca. The deserters sneered at the peasants missile fire, daring them to roll up and get lucky. Dereckus despaired, knowing that the omens of the dice gods were poor. He had only performed part of the appease the dice gods ritual, attending the sacrifice at Chan's but skipping the offering at Starbuck's.

"Darn those Inca and their Colombian beverages, they're going to outroll me by a lot"

Cleverly the Mandarin tried sacrificing some Tang peasants to the Almagrist deserters so that they would stumble into the Tibetan cataphracts. Magic bubbles descended from the heavens to cover the suddenly invulnerable units. Other Tibetans decided that was stupid and would charge the deserters in the open to pin down the deserters, allowing the peasants to try and handle the Inca with big sticks on their own.

At first, the cataphracts were successful, hiding behind their armor and pushing back their opponent. But then, they were unable to exploit their advantage due to Tibetan cataphract union rules.

"Sorry", said the second rank lancers, "you only paid for us to be medium cavalry and union rules forbid us from spreading out to fight real troops."

The deserters cheered upon hearing about the union rules, and prepared to show that three times as many figures fighting mattered a lot more than expensive armor.

Meanwhile, the other cataphract unit was charging down upon another band of deserters. A shadow loomed across the battlefield, foreshadowing what was about to entail.

"Waiver, 5, they pass"
"Shooting, +1"
"Ocuh, that was disordered and shot down 5"
"hand to hand, +2, doubled and rout."
The peasants panicked on that side. The Mandarin pondered what was coming, only a +3 would rout the other cataphracts. The Mandarin, being an old general, mounted up and rode to the rear.

"+3"
