Lauriacum (present day Austria):
Livius(EdKollmer) sat in one of his many headquarters along the northern frontier. He concentrated on the many reports and notes from merchants, scouts, and various people of interest who could give him a better picture of the Germanic tribes beyond the border.
The door opened and Trusus entered with a draft of cool air.
He approached, extended his hand and dryly said.
“Message from the Emperor, sir”
Livius looked up perplexed.
“The emperor??” He questioned.
He took the message slowly and purposely opened it.
He read it and gradually his face changed dramatically.
He vocalized some of the message.
“…reports of Celtic tribes rising up and rallying to the cry of a druid priestess wielding a sacred white spear……”
He lowered the message and gazed off toward Trusus.
He whispered gradually. “Maeve(MattKollmer)???”
“How could this be?” he questioned.
“Maeve!” Trusus retorted!
“I thought she was dead.” Trusus continued.
Livius looked at him.
“We have had no reports of her. Only imperial bureaucrats created those rumors. Hoping to quell any resistance.”
He raised the message again and read on. Again his visage changed, but now to a board simile. He slapped the message.
“The emperor has released Marcellus(MattWebster) from his work for the empress’s building projects for a time to help crush the revolt.”
“Excellent! Now we have her! The emperor wants us to march from the east and Marcellus from the south. We will crush her between us. She will not escape this time.”
Smiling, he placed his hand on Trusus’s shoulder.
“Send a message to Marcellus. Tell him to continue north. We are coming from the east along the frontier. We will be in contact as we come closer.”
“Muster the twelfth Legion.”
Trusus about faced quickly and exited the room.
Livius mouthed audibly, “We have you now Maeve..” |
