Results of the game we played at Mason Library in said town are:
Aztecs(probably more likely Huaztec) vs Conquistador/AllyTribes
For all those who know my usual lengthy stories will be relieved that this will be short.
Roughly, 2500pts per side. Using the NWW lists.
Sides: Aztec - MattKollmer(CnC), BillLow(sub), MattWebster(sub)
Conquistador - EdKollmer(CnC), Bob Turnbough(ally Tribe), TimGiles(Sub)
Bob and Tim did well and won their Flanks
EdK did not do well and lost Cortez in a failed charge.
The Aztecs generally took the worst of it.
But Cortez was lost.
However, it was a good day. |

The Spanish Wheeled Guns and War Dogs turned out to be real factors.
The Guns forced a waver test on the Aztec left center, unit shook, and the rot spread out from there, ruining the Aztec plan and ultimately leading to a collapse.
War Dogs didn't get huge up-rolls, but they came roaring through the brush and turned close fights into disorder results that proved to be critical on the Aztec left.
Ed/Matt: how did they do on your side of the table? |

I asked MattK to give his input since I didn't remember everything. I know they charged and disordered the unit and then they died. I was just mad that I had held back my other element of war dogs and they never got in the game. They moved too late.
Matt: They charged my warriors and pushed them back, disordering them, but then the war dogs die because the enemy wasn't destroyed.
I think they would be more effective if they were not fighting alone, the conquistador unit and the warriors you had were engaged.
I really think the dogs need to be used in conjunction with other troops, if you could have followed them up with another unit, I'd have been in trouble. Or if they charged with another unit and fought with them, it would have helped also
EdK: I agree. My attacks were not well coordinated. I sent them in after thinking about it as a stop gap measure. |
