PostPosted: Thu Jul 25, 2013 3:29 pm    Post subject: Hundred Years War Theme at Historicon 2014

This will be held on Friday, 18 July 2014 at Historicon in the Fredericksburg Convention Center.

The lists show handicapping. That could change. There might be additional list restrictions as well as Theme Rules.

1600 Points. All lists from Feudal Warrior

14) Scots Common (Middle and Later periods only; no Islemen or Highlanders). Weighting: +5% Middle period only.
15) Later Welsh. Weighting: +5% (was +15%).
16) Anglo-Irish (Middle and Late periods only) Weighting: +5% both periods.
22) Navarrese. Weighting: +10% (was +5%).
24) Low Countries. Weighting: +10% (was +5%).
25) Holy Roman Imperial (no Teutonics; no Hungarians of any kind, any period; no Wagenburgs). Weighting: +10% (was +5% Early and Middle periods only).
27) Medieval German Princes (no Teutonics; no Hungarians of any kind, any period; no Wagenburgs). Weighting: +15% (was +10%).
28) Medieval German Leagues (no Teutonics; no Swiss; no Wagenburgs; no Mercenary Light Cav). Weighting: +10% (was +5%).
29) Medieval Irish (No Scots). Weighting: +10%.
30) HYWE. Weighting: 0%.
31) Italian Condotta (no [VG], [N], [GC], [Pa] armies; no Hungarians; no Subject Bulgars; no Swiss; no Stradiots; no Turks). Weighting: +10%.
32) Medieval French. Weighting: +10% for Early and Middle periods only. +10% for Late period if no Scots.
34) Medieval Spanish (No Grenadines). Weighting: 0%.
35) Free Company. Weighting: +5%.
36) Early Burgundian (no Swiss). Weighting: 0%.

THEME RULES:

1) Artillery maximums may be increased by up to two elements. For example, if your list allows 0-4 Bombards, you can increase that to 0-6 Bombards. If your list has two seperate line items of artillery (Bombards and Organ Guns for example), each line item can be increased by two.

2) 2.33 "Special Cases" Dismounted Knights
SHK who have dismounted as SHI fight as if armed with 2HCW or 1HCW, determined element by element when dismounting. This also applies to French EHK in List 32 who dismount.

If you think that something won't be allowed that's not listed, resist the urge to power game it and email me first. I don't want anybody getting vested in a list only to have me pull the rug out from under them next spring.

Frank Gilson will ump.

I should be able to attend Historicon 2014. I volunteer to umpire.

I've made a couple of edits to the list of armies. Those edits are shown in BOLD.

Again, these will be weighted.

Frank, thanks!

You're allowing late period Anglo Irish but not War of the Roses? They aren't the same list but are contemporaries.

Low Countries will likely get a handicap?

I had to work and missed Historicon so might have missed any explanations of list choices.

To be honest, we could have dropped Anglo-Irish as they weren't really a "player" in the HYW. They are included mainly as a contemporary opponent for the HYWE list and we figure it might mean a couple of more Warrior players might actually be able to participate.

Sure there's some overlap, don't read too much into that.

I can say much about handicapping until Derek sends me his input. Drive over to his house and nag him to get that done. Razz

My $0.02 worth, take it for exactly that. War of the Roses is, by definition, post 100 Years War. So they really can't be included. The "must haves" are:
* 100YWE
* Medieval French
* Medieval Spanish
* Free Company
* Navarrese
* Italian Condotta
* Early Burgundian
* Low Countries
* Scots Common Army
* Anglo Irish
* Medieval Irish

Anything beyond that is just filling in contemporaries that did, or plausibly could have, interacted with the main protagonists: France and England. It would not be a stretch, for example, to include Grenadine or Early Swiss, but I have no issue with them being excluded either.

Couple, as in exactly 2? Frankly for all my bluster about the Galloglaichs, they pretty much suck against contemporary foes. I might even leave them at home for this tourney. Wink

Weighting information for the lists has been posted. This is PRELIMINARY!!!!! If we tweak it, I'll make the changes and post here saying I've made a change.

We also plan on issuing some errata for Feudal Warrior. Nothing major but we will focus on the Theme Lists.

So how does the handicapping work? I see all the percentages listed, I'm just not sure how they factor in. (Also not sure that I care; I'll probably just play what I want anyway.)

1600pt lists. If it says +10%, you get an additional 160pts.

I want extra points - so target is 240 but I may have to go 160 - thats up to two knight units - not that it will neccesarily make a difference

I have added a Theme Rule and changed the weighting. So if you were planning on using the Welsh list with +15% pts, you'll need to rethink things. Smile
