Anglo-Danish v LIR
Matt Webster, Bill Low and myself(Ed Kollmer)
Bill L made the lists and supplied the lead.
It was a very friendly and practice game.
I don’t have the LIR list
Matt and My list was:
*2EL IrB HI 2HCW,sh/jls,sh (Edgarr the Stout)
3x6EL IrB HI 2HW,sh/Jls,sh
2x2EL IrB, HK, L,sh
1x8EL IrC MI, jls,sh
1x6EL IrC LI s,sh
1x8EL IrC LI B
**4EL IrB LHI 2HCW sh/jls,sh (Hrothgar the Bloody)
3x4EL IrB LHI 2HCW sh/jls sh
3x 2EL IrA LMI, 2HCW,sh
1x8EL IrC LMI jls,sh(fyrd)
1x6EL IrC LMI jls,B,sh
1x6EL IrC LI jls,sh
**2EL IrB HI 2HCW, sh/jls,sh
1x6EL IrB HI 2HCW, sh/jls,sh
2x2EL IrB HK L,sh
1x8EL IrC MI Jls,sh
Not regulation table. 9x2.5
Terrain: stream on the extreme Anglo right and a low hill on the right also but in the Roman side. A wood on the Anglo left. Bill helped us set up the deployment since we had not seen the army before.
I put the LI before the hill to cover my flank since the romans put 2x2El LC on the hill. I had the HI in the line from right to left with the Fyrd next to the HI and the HK on the shoulders of the Fyrd.
Hrothgar moved big LMI block into the woods with a unit of IrA as the Aux moved into it also.
The romans had 7 legio units with a couple of SHC, HC, LC, a funky SHC scythed and about 3 or 4 Aux.
The first blood went to the Vikings. The 6El LMI IrC Jls,B,,sh charged an Aux. The Aux won but it allowed the IrA to hit the Aux in the flank and routed them.
The game proceeded along that path as Hrothgar rolled well and Bill rolled poorly for his wavers.
All along the line the the Fyrd and HI plowed into the Legio and locked. I was lucky to get the Fyrd to pin two Legio and then charged with the HK into the exposed elements of the Legios. Bill’s poor wavers were decisive. His line caved.
Matt and I needed the practice and it was a very friendly |

Sadly, No pics, Todd
I am not sure why.
I think the cameraman was swept away with the routing legions
Actually, I heard the Berserkers attacked the film crew.
There was no stopping them.
