Hello All,

Could you please clarify the following;

A friendly unit (A), has seen an enemy unit (X), enter a wood within 240 paces. X is no longer visible to A, but is known to it as per bullet point 3 on P4 Known:

Unit (C), friendly to, and within 240 paces of A, wishes to enter the wood. Is enemy unit X known to unit C?

Many Thanks,

Raphael

Do you mean Unit A when you said unit B????
Anyway, again I am not a reliable source, but I would say Unit C does know>
I find it very educational for me to see if I am correct or wrong.

Sorry Ed,

Yes I did mean unit A, not B! (I have now edited the original)

The reason I ask is because in the example actually given on P4 visibility isn't an issue.

Using the actual example in the rules, does unit C have to be within 240 paces of B, or, if A was within 240 paces of C, could unit A relay the knowledge to C, even though A itself doesn't have direct visibility to X, but does know that it is there? I'm not sure if that is any clearer!

Thanks again,

Raphael

My rule of thumb has always been that enemy units are known by the army as a whole, but are seen on a unit by unit basis.

Thanks Mark,

So, does a known enemy unit still constrain a friendly units possible actions (approaches, counters etc.), even if it is not visible to them?

Regards,

Raphael
